On September 21st 2016, Monroe County officials held a ribbon-cutting event to signify the completion of Phase II improvements to Abraham Lincoln Park. EDR managed the project team from design development through construction administration, as well as designing, engineering and permitting site improvements to support placement of the new lodge / Greater Rochester YMCA boathouse and new waterfront docking facilities. Architectura PC designed the structure. EDR President, Jo Anne Gagliano, RLA, and Vice President, Doug Brackett, RLA, were on-hand to say a few words recognizing Monroe County Parks and the contributions of the EDR team. In 2009, EDR was commissioned by the County to develop a concept plan for phased improvements to this 182-acre park, located on the east shore of Irondequoit Bay, in the Town of Penfield. The purpose of this plan was to identify the most appropriate uses for six Bay Area Parks, that included Abraham Lincoln Park, in order to meet current and future recreational needs. Recommendations for improvements published in the plan for Abraham Lincoln Park included an accessible parking area and attractive park entrance, park entry signage, repairs to the park access road, interpretive signage, additional parking, streambank stabilization, a nature playground, and construction of a new multi-purpose waterfront lodge. EDR designed the unique nature play area during Phase I.
“Another great Monroe County park. One of our family favorites. Nestled up to the water of the Bay. Great views. Beautiful trails. Love it. Enjoy!” Facebook Friends of Abraham Lincoln Park.
