The University Neighborhood Preservation Association and Gustav Stickley House Foundation, Inc. are initiating the restoration of the Gustav Stickley House, at 438 Columbus Avenue in Syracuse. The house was the home of Gustav Stickley, a nationally recognized furniture designer and proponent of the American Arts & Crafts Movement in the early-twentieth century. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is noteworthy to contain the first fully designed Craftsman interior in the United States. The restoration of the exterior of the house is starting in August 2017 and fundraising is ongoing for the restoration of the house’s historic interior.
EDR has prepared a rendering of the proposed restored exterior of the house on behalf of Crawford & Stearns Architects & Preservation Planners, LLC, the architects for the Project. The rendering was prepared by Joseph Falco, a Senior Landscape Architect at EDR, who lives in the same neighborhood as the Gustav Stickley House. In addition, Grant Johnson, a Senior Cultural Resources Specialist at EDR, is the Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the Gustav Stickley House Foundation, Inc. and actively involved in supporting the restoration of this historic landmark.
