EDR Celebrates Onondaga County’s White Pine Pump Station Groundbreaking

EDR was thrilled to participate in Onondaga County’s Department of Water Environment Protections’ (WEP) groundbreaking ceremony for the new White Pines Pump Station in Clay, NY. The celebration marked more than just upgraded infrastructure; it marked the beginning of the highly anticipated growth spurred by the Micron Semiconductor facility.

EDR is the lead consultant working with Onondaga County WEP on the new municipal pump station and expansion of sewer service. EDR’s engineering team played a central role in advancing the project from conceptual design through engineering and permitting. The wastewater pump station will provide essential service to the Clay site and help ensure the long-term resiliency of the region’s wastewater infrastructure.

The groundbreaking marks a significant milestone—not just for Micron, but for Central New York. This infrastructure investment is the first physical step in what is projected to be one of the most significant private investments in New York State history and a catalyst for regional economic growth, job creation, and long-term community revitalization.

“This is a significant moment for our firm and a testament to the talent, collaboration, and dedication across disciplines. As a lead consultant for the new pump station, our engineering team worked closely with our Environmental Team and Studio to provide the county with permitting, landscaping design, and renderings for the pump station.  The building’s architecture is designed to blend in with the surrounding environment and aligns in looks as a similar, nearby railroad depot building,” said Michael Tamblin, Principal Engineer at EDR.

EDR is incredibly proud of our team’s work on this project and is honored to help lay the groundwork for a once-in-a-generation opportunity in our community.  As Central New York prepares for a future shaped by innovation, EDR is proud to help build the foundation.
