City of Gloversville, NY
EDR collaborated with the City of Gloversville to complete a Brownfield Opportunity Areas (BOA) Nomination Study for an approximately 197-acre area. This BOA focused on priority properties that could catalyze downtown and waterfront redevelopment. Many former glove manufacturing sites contributed to the identification of various brownfields.
Working alongside the Steering Committee and the community, the team developed a matrix to select the top eight sites. Redeveloping these sites could drive the revitalization of the entire BOA area.
Next, EDR prepared detailed redevelopment plans for these selected sites. As a result, they are already generating interest from private developers.
Furthermore, EDR, HRP, and MRB collaborated to integrate the USEPA Assessment grant into the plans, providing real-time environmental information for redevelopment.
The Gloversville Nomination Study has been submitted for formal designation by the Secretary of State. Once designated, Gloversville can access BOA implementation funding to complete the recommendations outlined in the plan.
