Town of Bucksport, ME
Before merging with EDR, Elan collaborated with the Eastern Maine Development Corporation in Bucksport, Maine. Together, they created a community-driven redevelopment plan for a former paper mill. Like many towns in Maine, Bucksport has faced challenges due to the decline of the paper industry. Recently, the town lost its primary employer.
This project is an EPA-sponsored Area-Wide Plan. It identifies redevelopment strategies to return the property to productive use and restore its environmental integrity. Early findings, derived from extensive public outreach and economic analysis, indicate a strong potential for industrial reuse. Several target industries have a positive outlook for Eastern Maine.
The goal of this plan is to create a shared and achievable redevelopment vision. This vision aims to attract new businesses and investment to the site. Ultimately, it will benefit both the town and the surrounding region.
