Village of Clayton, NY
EDR developed the reuse strategy for an 8-acre Brownfield property located in the 1000 Islands Region on the shores of the St. Lawrence River in the Village of Clayton. Redevelopment of this property offered the single-most important opportunity that will influence reinvestment and have the greatest impact on Clayton’s vision of a renewed and inspiring waterfront, and economic development for the community.
Based on community input and neo-traditional urban design principles, EDR developed a concept master plan for the Frink America property and its adjacent waterfront. The Plan serves to guide endeavors, both public and private, for redevelopment and identifies important places and opportunities for public waterfront accessibility and private mixed-use activities. The plan encompasses four component areas 1) mixed-use, 2) hotel, 3) residential, and 4) marina. It also called for an extension of the Village’s traditional downtown character, and a first-class transient docking system positioned within walking distance of the major Village attractions.
