Syracuse, New York
In 2006, a new 272,000 square foot distribution complex for the nation’s leading wine and spirits distributor was built on a 25-acre site within a residential area of the City of Syracuse. EDR’s role in this project included coordinating State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) procedural requirements, including preparation of a Long Environmental Assessment form; endangered species studies; wetland delineation, mitigation design, and monitoring; and extensive coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to secure a wetlands permit. Site planning addressed adjacency and access to an existing railroad spur, redesign of an intersection within the residential neighborhood, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, screening of parking, major stormwater compliance related to the wetlands, green infrastructure considerations, and special pavements for heavy equipment, truck staging, loading, unloading, and fueling.
