Binghamton University demolished the existing baseball stadium and constructed a new $60M stadium and supporting facilities (designed by CS Arch and Fawley Bryant).
Phase 1 – The proposed phased plan included an 84,000 SF new state-of-the-art baseball stadium and fieldhouse facility to support the Division 1 Bearcats baseball team. The project included a new grandstand, clubhouse, and indoor training facility. It includes increased seating, locker rooms, batting cages, coaches’ offices, study spaces, and an athletic training room. In addition, the new facility will meet NCAA requirements for hosting post-season tournament play. Phase 2- The indoor training facility will include a turf baseball infield with a 4-story ceiling, giving athletes the ability to practice year-round.
EDR provided site planning, design, landscape architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting services for the project. Specific responsibilities included the design of pedestrian patterns, a new promenade entrance, site amenities, specialty pavements, site furniture, lighting fixtures, plantings, stormwater management to accommodate full build-out, new storm sewer, new water mains, extensive utility relocations, and replacements, as well as relocated parking and tennis courts. The existing baseball field will incur limited disturbance and is expected to be used for practice during construction.
“This project will help put Binghamton University into the upper echelons of Division 1 schools,” – University President, Harvey Stenger
