Established in 1979, EDR is a woman-owned, multi-disciplinary, and award-winning land planning, design, engineering, and environmental consulting firm. We celebrate the success and growth of our firm over 45 years, which has included adding new practices and offices to support our mission – to create and sustain a better environment for our clients, our staff, and our communities.

EDR Founded by Dave Crandall
Environmental Design & Research was founded by Dave Crandall in Skaneateles, New York.
1985
EDR Opens Office in Syracuse, NY
EDR moves to our first Syracuse, New York office in the historic Armory Square district.
1988
EDR Establishes Civil Engineering Services
EDR begins to offer Civil Engineering services.
1989
EDR Establishes Environmental Practice
EDR begins to offer wetland delineation and permitting services, establishing the foundation for our Environmental practice area.
2000
EDR Moves Rochester, NY Office
EDR moves into the Village Gate in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts.
2008
Jo Anne Gagliano Becomes President of EDR
A New Era – Jo Anne Gagliano assumes leadership as President.
EDR Moves Headquarters in Syracuse, NY
EDR moves headquarters to the Hills Building in downtown Syracuse, New York.
2010
EDR Establishes Cultural Resources Services
EDR’s begins to offer archaeology and historic preservation services.
2017
EDR Opens Capital Region Office in Albany, NY
EDR opens the first Capital Region office in downtown Albany, New York.

EDR Expands Municipal Engineering Services
EDR adds Municipal Engineering services and practice area.
2019
EDR Opens Mid-Atlantic Office in Hershey, PA
EDR opens Hershey, Pennsylvania office and expands Engineering practice to include structural engineering.
EDR Expands GIS Services
EDR begins to offer Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services.

Elan Planning, Design, & Landscape Architecture joins EDR, establishing new office in Saratoga Springs, New York.
EDR Establishes Office in White Plains, NY
LynStaar Engineering, P.C. joins EDR, expanding our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering services and establishing new office in White Plains, New York.
